What are the applications of magnets in audio and video equipment?

As a common magnetic material, magnets are widely used in audio and video equipment. They can be used to realize the transmission, manipulation and storage of sound and images. Below are a few common applications of magnets in audio and video equipment.
Speakers and Headphones:
Magnets are widely used in speakers and headphones. Speakers produce sound through the interaction between magnets and electric current. In a speaker, current is passed through a coil, which creates a vibrating electromagnet that is placed in a magnetic field. This vibration vibrates the air molecules, which creates sound. The working principle in headphones is similar, but they transmit the vibrations directly into the ears.

Tape and disk storage:
In traditional storage media for audio and video, magnets are used to record and read information. Both magnetic tape and magnetic disks contain a magnetizable coating, and information is encoded by changing the orientation of the magnet fields. On magnetic tape, the head senses changes in the magnet's magnetic field and converts them into sound or image signals. Disks, on the other hand, use a head and spinning platter to read and write data.
Magnet drive and motor:
Magnets are also used to start and drive motors in audio and video equipment. For example, in a hard disk drive, magnets create a magnetic field that moves the read/write head rapidly across the platter surface. Also, many motors in video equipment, such as tape players and projectors, also rely on magnets to drive them.

Screens and monitors:
Magnets are also used in some screen and display technologies, such as CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors. CRT monitors use a beam of electrons to excite a fluorescent screen to produce an image, and this beam is directed and focused by magnets. Some other display technologies, such as Magnetic Liquid Crystal Displays (MLCDs), also use magnets to control and manipulate images.
Tape and disk headers:
Read/write heads for magnetic tape and magnetic disks typically use heads made of magnets. These heads sense changes in magnetic fields and convert them into electrical signals that are used to read information stored on magnetic media. Both tape and disk heads must be positioned and operated with great precision to ensure high-quality reading and writing of data.

In conclusion, magnets play an important role in audio and video equipment. They are used in speakers and headphones, tape and disk storage, magnet drives and motors, screens and monitors, tape and disk heads, and more. These applications exploit the interaction between magnetic fields and electric currents to enable audio and video devices to transmit, manipulate and store information.

testimonials

client purchase strong magnets"Since 2006, we found Mr.Guo and get products from him. We used magnets under the earth for the gas and water pipe industries. We have met no problem. We have been working in very happy ways. We have many cooperation. Every year, we spent time together and sometimes, we invited him to Korea. He is our younger brother. Strongly recommended!!"
